Bronx's Birth Story

Ah! I hate how long it has taken me to write this post!

Well, we have a new family member!
Bronx Jon Laycock
8.8.12
20.5 inches
7 pounds 11 ounces

We are totally in love!

His story begins on Aug 6th.  I had gone to the Dr. for a check up and when I got checked he told me I was dilated to a 3 and 1/2.  I was pretty shocked because I stil had a little over 3 weeks to go until my due date, and 2 weeks of work left.  As soon as I left the Dr.  I started having contractions, and feeling pretty crappy.  Only catch was I did not have time to have a baby that day!  I was throwing a baby shower for my dear sweet friend Cami Fountaine that night.  So my other dear sweet friend Haley Jones let me lay on her couch while our kids played and she got ALL the food ready for the shower.  I have the BEST friends!
By the time the shower came I was feeling great, no contractions and we had a great time.

The next day I had to work, and had a really long day.  I felt really good all day, I went home around 9:30 p.m.  My kids were in bed all ready so I ate some dinner, Cory went and got me my favorite peach lime-aid and I decided to relax in the tub.  As soon as I started relaxing, the contractions started!  I hung around in the tub thinking they would stop.  I sat up and reached forward for my face wash, and heard a POP!  Not sure if it was in my head or not still to this day.  I got out of the tub, a little in pain.  Wondering if I broke my water?  But nothing came.  I got dressed and got in bed, and felt like I peed my pants!  My water broke with my other two kids, and this was nothing like it.  I called my Dr. he confirmed that most likely my water broke, and we were having a baby.

So many emotion were going through me at that time.  I was thinking, I didn't have time for this.  I still had 2 weeks of work left.  If my water did break am I going to have time to get an epidural? (Charley came 7 minutes after my water broke, no time for an epidural)  What if I was just peeing my pants?  I will be so embarrassed when I got to labor and delivery!  Kyle and Khabe came down to stay with Cash and Charley, and we went to the hospital.  I called my Mom and she met us there.

When we got to the hospital they checked me and the rest of my water bag ruptured.  We were for sure having a baby!  Right then my Mom stepped up and demanded my epidural,  they said "OK we just need to get a bag of saline in you."  Then they came in and said "actually this anesthesiologist likes you to have two bags of saline in you."  I was thinking they just better hurry up, cuz with my track record this baby could come any minute!  Luckily I got all the saline in me and the anesthesiologist came in and hooked me up!  That epidural was amazing!  As soon as I felt my legs going numb all of my anxiety, and fear went away as well.

They epidural slowed down my labor, so we had a while to hang out and watch the olympics, nap, and chat.

Bye, bye belly!

So funny watching my Mom and Cory cuddling up on the pull out, playing on their phones.

Happy Birthday to our little Bronx Bomber!  He didn't have a very good cry after her was born, so the Dr. had a lot of concern.  He was having really fast shallow breaths that he couldn't get control of on his own.  We tried to feed him, and skin to skin contact to clear out his lungs.  None of that worked:(  So after I had held him for a while, they took him away to the nursery, and eventually admitted him into the NICU.  So the remander of my hospital stay was spent taking trips down to the NICU for visits, and  having a few visitors of my own.

I love your posts, and all of the pics... made me a little teary eyed. Why have I not been there for any of your baby's births? I think you better have another one, so I can be :)
